Undersized TEV  

Probable cause:

Valve orifice is too small, starving the coil.

Remedy:

Properly size the TEV by using the following information:

1. Refrigerant type.
2. Evaporating temperature.
3. Pressure drop across the valve.
4. Desired load.
5. Liquid temperature at the TEV inlet after obtaining the above, turn to ALCO’s TEV catalog for extended capacity tables to properly select the value.
