Cracked Diaphragm or Bellows- Automatic Expansion Valve

Probable Cause:                                                         

Cracked diaphragm or bellows of an expansion valve would result in floodback (valve wide open,) if adjustment cap is on and secure.

Remedy:

Replace the valve or power assembly where applicable.
